Navis - Audio descriptive Navigation for the Visually impaired
Navigation is difficult enough without sight, with the current world situation limiting touch the process is even harder. Navis opens up a common but unexplored way of navigation. Using RFID technology embedded in the ergonomic handle opens up a contact free service for the user.
Auditory descriptions encourages those with visual impairments to mobilise the visual cortex in order for them to imagine and produce an image. Allowing the visualisation of a layout aids navigation and instils a sense of fulfilment and independence especially when paired with a blind cane or a guide dog.
